Global Initiative Leadership (GIL) at Highline College
The Global Initiative Leadership (GIL) Committee is at the heart of Highline College’s commitment to advancing global education and fostering international connections. This cross-divisional committee brings together faculty, staff, and students to champion initiatives that enrich our campus community and promote a global perspective.
What Does GIL Do?
The GIL Committee is instrumental in organizing and supporting a variety of dynamic programs and events, including:
- International Education Week: Celebrating global cultures, ideas, and learning.
- Highline Welcomes the World Week: Showcasing the vibrant diversity of our campus community.
- Study Abroad Opportunities: Creating transformative experiences for students through international travel and learning.
- Experiential Learning to Vietnam: A signature program exploring the 50-year legacy of the Vietnam War.

We warmly invite ALL faculty, staff, and students to join the GIL Committee and contribute to planning incredible events and activities for the 2025–26 academic year. Participation is easy—just express your interest via email to Mina Vo (Interim Global Program Manager) Mvo@highline.edu, and we will contact you about the initial meeting in mid-February. Everyone is welcome, whether you’re looking to share your ideas, learn, or play an active role in global programming.
